MSC Certified Vessel List

A major issue in the industrial tuna industry is a lack of transparency in the food supply chain. It is almost impossible for the everyday consumer to trace the tuna on their plate back to the vessel and crew who harvested it.

This lack of transparency leads to illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing practices. Unfortunately, the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), despite its reputation as a symbol of sustainability continues to certify fisheries that engage in damaging fishing practices.

To hold the MSC accountable for any IUU activity on their certified vessels, CTTF has created the MSC Certified Vessel List that is accessible to all. This list is intended to increase transparency in fisheries, and give researchers and journalists a shortcut to determining whether vessels are operating under MSC certification.
